    The reading of Bill 66/2021 by Councilor Vanessa Eugenio, Republican, in the city council’s last regular session, which must be voted on in upcoming sessions, represents a significant advance in public policies aimed at the preventive health of Alzheimer’s disease.

    The proposal aims to care, support, treat and prevent Alzheimer’s disease, through treatment guidance projects, care support and education for family members and caregivers, regarding harm caused by the disease, special handling care, adaptability and safety of carriers.

    If approved, when it is on the agenda, and endorsed by Mayor Jose Fernandez, measures will be implemented to assist the families and therapists of patients with the disease, to determine the individual needs of each patient, in order to ensure access to the clinical examinations necessary for the treatment appointed by the doctor.

    Another advance is the achievement of agreements and partnerships with public or private entities, specialist clinics and the hospital network, with the aim of encouraging and suggesting improvements in the treatment and monitoring of patients, as well as strengthening guidance and support for family members and caregivers. People with this disease.

    The consultant also proposes to create a database to register patients with Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases in the city, in order to allow effective monitoring and statistical survey of the disease.
