The focus is on performance gains on multiple devices, even GeForce models

In any case AMD She provided her response on IT NVidiaDeep Learning SuperSampling (DLSS). The company featured FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) in its presentation at Computex 2021, along with other releases such as new APUs and video cards for laptops.

FidelityFX Super Resolution will use the FidelityFX library for graphics optimizations and advanced upscaling techniques to improve game performance, striving to deliver a lower resolution and then enlarge the image to the final resolution. On average, this will increase performance by 2x when playing games in 4K resolution.

AMD will follow a strategy similar to that of Nvidia, launching multiple quality modes. Thus the player can find a balance between performance gain and final image quality. Moving from the lowest performance mode to the maximum quality to the opposite, highest performance but lowest quality, we will have the modes: super quality, balance and performance.

Unfortunately, during the presentation, AMD didn’t explain how the technology would work. According to the company, there are already more than 10 studios and graphics engines with feature support this year, and more than 100 processors and video cards will be able to use the technology.

FidelityFX Super Resolution is an open technology belonging to AMD GPU Open, an initiative to make software and solutions available in an open source manner. During the presentation, AMD made this opening very clear, showing the performance gains of the GeForce GTX 1060, a model from competitor Nvidia. This selection also shows a “push” by the Radeon team, since DLSS technology is limited to GeForce RTX panels, as it relies on specialized structures, tension cores, which GeForce GTX doesn’t have. This openness also means that there is potential to see this technology on other platforms, like consoles, for example.

AMD will make the technology available on June 22nd, and until then, users can submit their “Wish List” for the games they want to watch with the added feature. For this Just access this link here.

As with Nvidia’s DLSS, here there is an important balance between increased performance and graphics quality that will be preserved. DLSS started with some issues until Nvidia perfected the feature in its latest release. Unfortunately, AMD hasn’t offered more detailed comparisons, so we’ll have to wait for more news to see how the feature is performing.
