Actor James Van der Beck, 48, has revealed details of the secret symptoms that she did not define before she was diagnosed with colon cancer in training 3. In an interview with Healthline this week, Prooters “Dawson's Creek Prominers” has experienced his experience with the disease, which was diagnosed in November 2024.

“There was no red mark or a clear thing,” Van der Beck said during the interview. Diagnosis was confirmed after colonoscopy. The actor admitted that he was unaware of important information about the disease: “Before my diagnosis, I did not know much about colon and rectal cancer. I didn't even realize that the examination era decreased to 45; I thought it was still 50.”

In an interview with people in early November, Van der Beck said that he was diagnosed with colon cancer after colonoscopy to analyze changes in intestinal habits. He said, “I am dealing with her separately and take the necessary measures to solve it, with the support of my amazing family,” he said.

Modern data shows a disturbing scenario in the occurrence of the disease. In 2019, like people under the age of 55, 20 % of colon and rectum cancer, compared to 11 % in 1995. While diagnoses decrease in the oldest population, accidents among young people are constantly increasing in the past three decades. In Brazil, deaths from colon and rectal cancer are expected to grow by 36.3 % over the next fifteen years.

Doctors explain that the changes in intestinal movements are important signs of alert. The tumor in the colon or rectum acts as a “blockage in a tube”, and adjusts intestinal habits. These changes can appear as frequent constipation, diarrhea or rotation between both cases.

Patients are often reported by an incomplete evacuation, describing that they do not feel “empty” after using the bathroom. In some cases, one of the distinctive symptoms is to get rid of soft pencils, especially when there are tumors near the end of the colon.

Other signs include persistent fatigue, anemia, weight loss without a clear cause, abdominal pain and rectal bleeding. Colon and rectal cancer is the third most common in the United States, except for skin cancers. Diagnosis should be doubled in people under the age of 50 by 2030, according to expectations.
