Brazilian workers born in August who have opted for the birthday withdrawal option from the Service Time Guarantee Fund (FGTS) can now access their balance. This feature, offered by Caixa Econômica Federal, allows the annual withdrawal of part of the FGTS balance in the worker's month of birth, as an alternative to ending the withdrawal.

With up to 2,900 Brazilian Reals issued, this method offers a significant financial opportunity, but requires attention to deadlines and conditions. Check below how it works, who is eligible for withdrawal and details on receipt deadlines.

How does the FGTS Birthday Draw work?

Birthday withdrawal is a method that allows employees to withdraw part of their FGTS balance annually in the month of their birthday. By choosing this option, the employee forgoes the full withdrawal in the event of unfair dismissal, and only reserves the right to a penalty of 40% of the total FGTS balance.

Who can opt out of Christmas?

Any worker with an FGTS balance can opt for this method. To join, you must access the FGTS app, the Caixa Econômica Federal website or go to a Caixa branch. August birthdays, for example, have until the last day of the month to apply and receive the amount that same year.

The amount available for withdrawal in the Saque-Aniversario depends on the total balance in the worker's FGTS account. The calculation is made according to a table established by Caixa, which determines the percentage of the balance that will be released, plus an additional premium in some cases.
