Difficulty is synonymous with FromSoftware games, especially when we talk about downloadable content (DLC). That won't change in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, said Hidetaka Miyazaki, FromSoftware president and game director. It ensures that they have gone above and beyond when it comes to the difficulty level of their games.

The director of Elden Ring has already said in recent interviews that Shadow of the Erdtree will have more than 10 main bosses. As is often the case in other FromSoftware games, the optional bosses, while some are harder to find, will be more of a challenge.
Of course, some bosses are a necessary part of the development and story arc, but others are not. Those that are not particularly difficult. I think they will be a very good challenge and obstacle for players.
Hidetaka Miyazaki
Miyazaki says that this additional difficulty for DLC bosses became key for the studio. If you don't like it and find it too difficult, he says, “I'm sorry!” “We've tried to make this the basis for boss encounters in the DLC, so we hope players will find this more engaging and fun. But if not, I'm sorry!
The optional bosses are the hardest
An example of an optional difficult boss, in this case outside of the DLC, is Mohg, which is a prerequisite for entering Shadow of the Erdtree. He's not easy to find (not alone) and he's a good challenge in combat. On Steam, less than 40% of players beat it, which is a very low number.
Malenia is another example. Although there is no achievement to know how many players have cleared the challenge, it has become a symbol of difficulty for FromSoftware in the first weeks of Elden Ring.
Dark Souls 3 also contains a very symbolic symbol: the Nameless King. The path to it is unclear, and once there, the player faces one of the greatest challenges created by Hidetaka Miyazaki and his team.
There's less than an hour left until Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree hits PC (or has already arrived, depending on when you're reading this) and there are already over 230,000 concurrent players on Steam awaiting the release. On consoles, availability starts at midnight.
