Ipatinga declares a public health emergency to combat SARS in children
This measure aims to improve the response to the increase in cases of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SRAG) in the municipality. The Ministry of Health is requesting permission to build eight new pediatric intensive care unit beds and ten ventilator support beds, as well as equipment and personnel to meet demand.
City Mayor Gustavo Nunes (PL) declared on Friday (24) a state of public health emergency due to an increase in cases of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SRAG) in children. This decision was taken due to the insufficient number of available children's beds to meet the increasing demand, putting the health system's ability to respond at risk.
The decree authorizes the priority and urgent treatment of operations related to the fight against SARS, the adoption of the necessary administrative and assistance measures, including general access to basic inputs and services, as well as the relocation of servers to meet emergency requests of the Public Health Department. Health: The state of emergency will initially be in effect for 90 days, with the possibility of extending it depending on the development of epidemiological indicators.
