(Sputnik) – WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange's wife, Stella Assange, told American journalist Tucker Carlson that her husband would arrive in the United States in a few weeks, depending on the outcome of an extradition hearing in the United Kingdom.
A UK court held hearings on Tuesday and Wednesday to consider a request to extradite Assange to the US. The US is seeking to prosecute him under the Espionage Act for receiving and disclosing sensitive material, for which he could face up to 175 years in prison.
“If the UK decides in favor of the US, they will fly Julian to the US. That's how immediate it is,” Stella Assange said on Wednesday. “Julian could be on American soil in a few weeks.”
UK judges said they would delay their decision for at least a week, Assange said. Assange said there was no longer any chance of appealing the extradition in UK courts, even if the case was brought to the European Court of Human Rights.

Any US president who respects constitutional protections for journalists should free the WikiLeaks founder, Assange said. Assange said the case was politically motivated and “rotten”.
