    The survey heard from experts from the American Political Science Association and scholars; Joe Biden came in fourteenth place

    A poll published today, Monday (February 19, 2024), showed that historians considered Joe Biden the best fourteenth president in the history of the United States, while they placed former President Donald Trump in last place.

    It was implemented with 154 presidential experts who are currently part of American Political Science Association, as well as scholars who have recently published peer-reviewed research in academic journals or publishers. Read the complete (PDF – 362 KB, in English).

    Each president was rated on a scale from 0 to 100. Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States, topped the list with an average of 95. In the evaluation, Biden received an average of 62.66, while Trump scored about 11 points. The youngest among the listed leaders.

    Other notable presidents, such as Barack Obama (7th place) and John Kennedy (10th), ranked higher on the list. George Washington, the first president of the United States, came in third place, while Theodore Roosevelt and Thomas Jefferson ranked fourth and fifth, respectively.

    methodology

    Search the “Presidential Greatness Project 2024” (2024 Presidential Greatness Project Expert Poll) was conducted online through the Qualtrics platform between November 15 and December 31, 2023.

    Of 525 participants invited to participate, 154 responded helpfully, resulting in a response rate of 29.3%.

    The aim of the research was to create a classification “greatness” Of presidents that included every president from George Washington to Joe Biden.

    To do this, participants rated each president on a scale from 0 to 100 in terms of his or her overall greatness, where 0 means failure, 50 means average, and 100 means greatness. Each president's ratings were then averaged.
