China Radio International – China will make Fujian Province a model area for integrated development across the Taiwan Strait, according to a circular issued Tuesday. The circular, jointly issued by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council, said the move aims to deepen cross-Strait integrated development in all fields and promote the peaceful reunification of the motherland.

The document listed general requirements and 21 specific procedures for building the area.

According to the document, Fujian, located on China’s southeast coast, should leverage its distinct advantages and harness a variety of resources to promote cross-Strait integrated development.

The circular says policies and systems will be improved to promote the well-being of Taiwanese citizens and ensure they enjoy equal treatment with their mainland counterparts.

The goal, according to the post, is to make Fujian the top destination for Taiwanese residents and companies seeking development on the mainland. The province will see more favorable people-to-people exchanges with Taiwan when the pilot zone is built, according to the document.

    Continue following recommendations

Thus, cross-Strait trade and investment will be facilitated, and cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation will expand to more areas and in greater depth.

The circular adds that the sister cities of Xiamen, Kinmen, Fuzhou and Mazhou will play a more prominent exemplary role in promoting cross-Strait integrated development.
