    A 7-year-old boy, who was born without a right hand, is now the happy ‘owner’ of a new robotic arm, thanks to the kindness of a stranger who paid the full £13,000 cost after seeing your story on the news. Louis Morgan Kemp, of Swaivesey, Cambridgeshire, England, had just begun raising money for the prosthesis when his story caught the attention of a businessman who offered to match the cost. Philanthropist Billy Dixon, 73, of Egham, Surrey, saw Lowe on TV and contacted her mum on Facebook, making her a generous offer.

    Louis got his Iron Man arm a few days ago, and he’s already able to move his mechanical fingers by using his arm muscles to press the buttons inside his sleeve. Created by Bristol-based company Open Bionics, the innovative gadget helps the boy with everyday tasks such as picking up objects, cutting food and serving drinks. He said it was “exciting” to win the arm and that he was “glad” that manager Billy Dixon paid for it.

    “I can’t think of not doing it,” said Dixon, reflecting on his graciousness. “It’s in my nature to do things like that.” Lowe’s mother, Hannah Morgan, 32, expressed her gratitude to the businessman, saying: “We didn’t expect this to happen so quickly.” She revealed that the summer school holidays were full of anticipation for the hero’s arm. “That’s all he talked about,” she said.

    And earlier this year, she shared that her son was excitedly telling everyone about his “robot arm”. The innovative company behind it, Open Bionics, said the Hero arm was designed and manufactured in the UK. They describe their innovation as “the world’s most affordable multi-handle prosthetic arm”, which features not only multi-handle functionality but also an empowering aesthetic that is sure to boost the confidence of its users.
