    The base of Ourém identity and the universal spirit of the fourth count of Ourém, Dom Afonso, is a precursor to the September Festival, which will invade the medieval village of Ourém between the 8th and 10th of September.
    After completing the rehabilitation of the castle and palace of the Condes de Ourém, in a festive atmosphere and through the cultural fruits, the municipality of Ourém, the organizer of the event, intends to “address the relationship between cultural heritage, the history of the place and cultural pluralism”, with initiatives and dialogues on cultural diversity, inspired by “paths Migration from Ourense to France, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Angola and Mozambique, along with all other destinations in the world.”
    “We the Immigrants” is the theme of the September festival, which returns to Urem with a “broad and varied program” that includes seminars, conferences, exhibitions, concerts, theatre, visits to cultural heritage, literature and cinema, among other activities. .
    From the programming, the municipality of Ourem highlights concerts by Aline Vrazao (Angola), Selma Oamós (Mozambique) and Luca Argyll (Brazil), as well as theatrical performances “O Rest in Your Voice”, “Trans (H)umancia” and “The Journey” .
    “There will also be a cinema space, with the screening of various documentaries and short films, between book screenings and guided tours of the medieval historical and artistic heritage found in the village of Urem,” says the municipality.
    Gastronomy and handicrafts will not be lacking in the medieval village of Ourem, as well as “art installations and exhibitions, with an emphasis on the photography exhibition ‘For a Better Life’ by Gerald Blancourt,” recalls the city council.
    The Migration Observatory participates in the September Festival with the symposium “Portuguese Migration Trails”, which will address the current panoramic landscape of Portuguese migration. Many other conferences and gatherings will feature community participation and partnerships with the High Commission for Migration and CRIA – Center for Research in Anthropology. Initiatives aimed at families, such as the “Sopa de Jerimu” show, a meeting with the author of the book “Migration. What a strange word! And time.” The short story “Filas de Sonhos” by Rita Sineiro.
    The Câmara de Ourém will guarantee, within the scope of the event, free transportation to Vila Medieval, with collection points at the Municipal Exhibition Center and at Santo Amaro, “in an event intended to be inclusive and inclusive, able to involve all participants, visitors and the community of Ouro Preto” can be read in press release.
    An “open call” is being held, until August 27, for volunteers who wish to participate in the project, “namely in the fields of mediation, production or the technical field,” the organization explained.
