The Babylonians were responsible for creating a numerical system based on 60, which served as the origin for dividing hours into minutes and minutes into seconds.
The Indians made a great contribution to its development. Mathematicians introduced the decimal number system in ancient India, which used ten different symbols to represent numbers.
