Sending wrong messages is no longer a problem for WhatsApp users, who have taken advantage of the new mechanism to edit messages after 15 minutes of sending them on Android and iPhone (IOS) devices. Now, the innovation launched at the end of June allows you to silence incoming calls from unknown numbers and access, in one place, all privacy mechanisms.

The new function of silencing incoming calls from unknown numbers provides more security and privacy. If the option is enabled, spam and scam calls will be automatically deleted without the phone ringing. However, the call will be visible in the call list.

To announce this new mechanism, WhatsApp also announced Privacy Check, a function accessed in Settings, where users can access, in one place, all the application’s protection features, such as determining who can contact, controlling personal data, account protection, and an option for more privacy in conversations.

The two new features occur after the availability of the option to edit sent messages, which facilitated understanding in conversations and helped those who write them, and the ability to correct wrong messages and cases of wrong content. Estácio journalist and communication expert Hyldegardes Mello explains this: “Communication is difficult when a message contains an error. Editing allows you to correct quickly, without having to add an incorrect term or blame the proofreader for completing it incorrectly, affecting the content.”

According to WhatsApp, the application still intends to launch the new “Channels” feature in the coming months, which will be a transmission tool where admins will be able to send texts, photos, videos, stickers and polls. Users will be able to choose which channels they want to follow and receive important updates from people and organizations. This feature promises privacy, as the phone number and profile picture will not be shown to channel admins and users.
