Petrobras Director, Jean-Paul Pratis, met with Bolivia’s President, Luis Arce, to discuss the future of oil and gas exploration in South America on Tuesday (5/30). The state-owned company has plans to resume investment in neighboring states.
“We are preparing Petrobras for a new stage in refining. Pratiss announced that we want to revisit neighboring countries, such as Bolivia, Venezuela and Guyana, and discuss such points as contractual terms, new gas exploration possibilities, and preparing companies for the energy transition.
Jean-Paul Pratis stated that Petrobras Intends to study new business in the field of natural gas exploration. In addition, he asserted that companies in which the state is the majority shareholder are essential to the world’s energy transition.
Petrobras also announced that it plans to conduct industrial tests to generate petrochemical products and fuels from 100% renewable sources using Refinaria Riograndense. According to the company, this initiative paves the way for a new biorefining opportunity in the country.
Prats and Ars participated in a meeting of leaders of South American countries, organized by the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (Workers’ Party), at the Itamaraty Palace in Brasilia.
According to the company, the director of Petrobras and the President of Bolivia should meet again in the second half of the year in Bolivia to discuss trade agreements between the two countries.
In Brasilia, Lula met with South American heads of state to discuss ensuring democracy in the region. Shortly after the meeting, world leaders signed the “Brasilia Consensus”.
