The new look of WhatsApp for Android has started to reach more beta users of the app. The novelty moves the home screen menu to a bottom bar, something similar to what’s seen on iOS.

    New look on Android

According to the specialized website WABetaInfo, version 2.23.11.6 expands access to the new one that was first seen in April and began to be distributed to testers in May. The interface redesign places the Chats, Communities, Status, and Call buttons at the bottom of the screen, making it easier to navigate when using a cell phone with just one hand.

In addition, the icons are more simple and clear, reminiscent of the iPhone version of WhatsApp.

    Bugs in the new version

WABetaInfo reports that some testers are experiencing crashes in the latest beta. In this case, it’s normal for Meta to make patches available to the public to install and fix the problem, but it’s also possible to downgrade the app, to go back to the previous version.

There has also been criticism regarding the inability to scroll between tabs after the upgrade – and it remains unclear whether this is a bug or a feature.

In addition to the revamped interface that’s starting to hit more mobiles, WhatsApp is finally working on animated emojis and protection in conversations with a password or biometrics. As soon as new fixes come out, you’ll hear about them first Canaltech.
