Explosions brought down two Russian fighter planes and two helicopters on Saturday (13) in Bryansk, near the border with Ukraine. Videos circulating on social media show one of the helicopters on fire and indicate that the plane was shot down. Everyone on the plane will die.

The cause of the explosions has not been officially confirmed. According to the Russian news agency Kommersant, Ukrainian forces were going to ambush and shoot down a Su-34 fighter, a Su-35 fighter and two helicopters. The Su-34 is one of the main equipment of the Russian army.

The Russian state news agency TASS reported the crash of the Su-34 in Bryansk, but did not specify the cause. The agency also quoted emergency services in the town of Klintsy, 40 kilometers from Ukraine, as saying that a fire in one of the helicopters caused the explosion, but did not name the Su-35 fighter or the second helicopter.

Although Kiev has not officially commented, Mykhailo Podolak, an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, called the bombings “instant justice and dignity” via social media.

On Saturday, Bryansk region governor Alexander Bogomaz said a Ukrainian drone hit a food production plant in Starodub, near the border with Ukraine, damaging the roof of the building. Bogomez said there were no injuries.

On Thursday (11), Bogumaz already reported a drone attack on an oil storage depot in the region.
