The UK kicks off celebrations this Sunday to celebrate the reign of Charles III
He was crowned king in a ceremony at Westminster Abbey in London on Saturday (6).
The day is marked by many celebrations, including street parties and concerts in the evening.
In the evening there will be a social ‘big lunch’ and a concert at Windsor Castle.

The United Kingdom begins this Sunday (7) a celebration of the reign of Charles III, who was crowned king in a ceremony at Westminster Abbey in London on Saturday (6). The day is marked by many celebrations, including street parties and concerts in the evening. Pubs and bars will be open two hours longer than usual.
At 12pm, the coronation takes place, where thousands of events will take place across the UK to strengthen local communities. Community groups, neighbors and residents are invited to share food and fun in a national act of celebration and friendship. The Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, hosts a luncheon at Downing Street in London, a street lined with government residences and official offices.

The dish set to mark the Grand Coronation Lunch was a French quiche of spinach, fava beans and tarragon, a versatile and inexpensive dish personally chosen by King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla. The food is “good for sharing”, can be served hot or cold and is not too complicated to prepare.
At 3pm, the gates of Windsor Castle will open to ticket holders for the Coronation Concert which starts at 7pm. The show will cater to an audience of 20,000 and will feature performances by world music icons. Confirmed performers include Katy Perry, Andrea Bocelli and Lionel Richie.
The event will also include a special performance by Coronation Choi, made up of the UK’s “most exciting” community singers and amateur singers, including refugees and NHS staff, the National Health Service. Sign singers for the deaf will also be featured.

US President Joe Biden, who did not attend the coronation, took to Twitter to congratulate King Charles and Queen Camilla. “I am proud to be the first woman to represent America at this historic event,” she said. “The long friendship between the United States and the United Kingdom is a strength for both our peoples,” Biden added.
In a similar vein, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who attended the coronation, described the ceremony as “a symbol of Great Britain’s enduring strength” as a member of the Atlantic military alliance.

Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan have sent a congratulatory message to the sovereign. In the speech, they say the international community faces “unprecedented” challenges and call on the UK to pursue a long-term strategy of “peace” and “cooperation”. “China is ready to work with the United Kingdom to strengthen the friendship between the two peoples,” they added.
German President Olaf Scholz visits Kenya, but he does not fail to greet Charles despite his distance. In her message, she emphasized the monarch’s commitment to protecting the environment: “For me, she is someone who has committed to closer cooperation between the UK and the EU and has her own fight to improve climate protection, which is very important.”

Finally, Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni sent her “best wishes to King Charles III, Queen Camilla and all the British people”.
