Ray Reyes, a former member of the Minodo group, has passed away at the age of 51. This announcement was made by Raul Reyes, the singer’s brother, through a post on social media, on Friday evening (30).

Raoul wrote: “With great pain in my soul I inform you that my beloved brother Ray Reyes is dead. I ask you to give us privacy to accommodate this whole situation, and please pray for our family, and especially for our mother.”

“I also ask you to never forget your legacy. Today, more than ever, we need to unite and we will never fail to express all the love and affection we feel for others. This is yet another teaching of the universe.”

He did not disclose the cause of death. According to international newspapers, the musician died at his home in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, where Raul set sail this morning, according to what he published on his Facebook page.

Ray Reyes joined Menudo in 1983, replacing Xavier Serbia. He left the band two years later, at the age of fifteen, and began a solo career.

In 1998, Ray met other members of the Minodo to celebrate the group’s fifteenth anniversary. Another reunion was done in the following years. Their most recent tour, “Subtle a Mi Moto Tour,” was discontinued in 2019 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The tourism agency also confirmed Ray’s death in a statement posted on social media.
