Attica Zoo, which is the largest in GreeceIt was reported, Wednesday (8), that a white tiger cub was found abandoned in a street near the zoo near Athens, the country’s capital.

The zoo added that the 4-month-old animal was found under a litter box, and its hind legs were paralyzed.

“No one knows where it came from or how it got there,” the park’s founder, Jean-Jacques Lesseur, told the Greek newspaper Proto Thema. He said the animal was probably abandoned on Monday (6).

He added that the cats were “in terrible shape”.

The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) describes white tigers as a “genetic anomaly”.

This species has a genetic mutation that creates a white coat with black stripes. These animals are often the result of inbreeding, which exposes them to many health issues at birth.

Attica Zoo is home to more than 2,000 animals from 290 species.
