British boxer Conor Bean has been acquitted after being drugged before a fight in October last year. The test revealed the presence of clomiphene, a banned substance used to increase the performance of athletes, but the investigation indicated that “high consumption of eggs” was the likely cause of the test result.
The World Boxing Council (WBC) was responsible for conducting an investigation between Ben and announced the result of the inspection via a statement on social media. The athlete was removed from the world rankings in his class, but now he has returned to fifth place. The Briton will still need to wait for rulings by the British Boxing Council of Control (the UK’s professional regulatory body for boxing) and the UK Anti-Doping Agency.

The WBC found that: (1) there was no conclusive evidence that Mr. Penn participated in the intentional or conscious ingestion of clomiphene; (2) There are no failures in the procedures related to sample collection or sample analysis or misdemeanours. would justify questioning or invalidate the negative result and (3) Mr. Benn. Between the relevant periods of sample collection, a plausible explanation for the discovery has been raised – the WBC concluded in a statement.
Connor Benn has been the WBA (World Boxing Association) Continental Light Heavyweight Champion since 2018. British father, Nigel Benn, was also a fighter and had a very triumphant career in the 90s.
