Police stated that no England fans have been arrested at the current World Cup. According to Mark Roberts, head of the UK’s Football Police unit, the behavior of British citizens was exemplary and none, including Wales fans, were arrested.

Roberts’ report came after England were knocked out in the quarter-finals 2-1 by France, after Harry Kane missed a penalty in the second half. In numbers, each country had 3,000 fans in Qatar and 3,500 traveled to the England knockout, in the matches against Senegal (3-0 win) and the defeat against France.

The contrast of good behavior in Qatar is due to antics committed at Euro 2020, where England were defeated by Italy. Roberts believes that the fact that there were no alcoholic beverages being sold in the vicinity of the stadiums also contributed to the lack of arrests – the sale was suspended by the organizing committee two days before the first match of the tournament.

He said: “The behavior of England and Wales in Qatar was absolutely exemplary. During United’s participation in the tournament, there were no arrests or incidents to report, which is a credit to all those who traveled. In Russia 2018 there were three arrests. But obviously, with two teams in This tournament, we play twice as many group stage matches, including our country’s derby, which highlights the good nature of our fans.”

Wales were eliminated in the group stage after a sub-par participation.
