President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) has appointed 14 military personnel to command positions in the armed forces and 11 diplomats to ambassadorial positions, as well as two new representatives to UN offices. The decrees were published in the Official Gazette, Friday (9).
Among the changes in the armed forces are the following:
Air Force Major Flavio Luiz de Oliveira Pinto, Air Force Command, will be Director General of the IDC Secretariat, based in Washington, D.C., in the United States.
It will be headed by Air Commodore Leonardo Chaves Rodriguez, the seventh deputy chief of staff of the Air Force. Air Force Lieutenant Joao Tado Fiorentini will leave the position of Director General of the Airspace Control Department to assume the position of Chief of Staff of the Air Force.
Air Force Brigadier General Vincent Dang will serve as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Space Operations Command. Air Commodore Roberto da Cunha Volador will head the Cyber Operations Coordination Center.
In the Navy, Vice Admiral Cesar López Lourero was cleared of the position of Secretary of the Officer Promotion Committee. The position will be filled by Vice Admiral Humberto Caldas da Silveira Jr.
Diplomacy
Bolsonaro also signed the appointment of 11 new Brazilian ambassadors and representatives to United Nations bodies. New ambassadors have been appointed for Guatemala, Tanzania, Vietnam, Jordan, Equatorial Guinea, Tunisia, Lebanon, Mauritania, Sudan, Costa Rica and South Africa.
At the United Nations, Paula Alves de Souza, Minister for Diplomacy First Class in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will take over as Permanent Delegate of Brazil to UNESCO in Paris, France.
Carla Barroso Carneiro, First Class Secretary of the Diplomatic Corps of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will be the Permanent Representative of Brazil to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations – FAO, in Rome, Italy.
