Peruvian Prime Minister Anibal Torres has resigned. The President of the Republic approved the request Pedro Castillo This Friday, the 25th. Torres, a loyal ally of Castillo, is the fourth name to leave the left-wing government that has been in power since July 2021.

Anibal Torres defied the opposition-controlled Congress in a confidence vote last week. But lawmakers refused to hold such a vote yesterday. The vote of confidence tool was aimed at putting pressure on Congress in the midst of tense relations between the two powers. If the request is denied, Torres and the entire cabinet will be forced to resign. Last week, Torres said he would interpret the absence of a vote as tantamount to rejecting a vote of confidence.
