One A group of orcas He attacked and completely destroyed a yacht off the coast of Portugal. The attack lasted about 45 minutes, and the damage caused the ship to sink, to the dismay of the four-man crew.
The yacht, Smoussesaiu, left the port of A Coruña, Spain, on October 30. The next day, when they were near the Portuguese city of Viana do Castelo, I felt a jolt And they heard very loud noises – when they checked the situation, they realized it She was surrounded by seven orcas🇧🇷
At first, the crew thought the animals, who were constantly bumping into the boat, were just playing. “We thought they’d play a little bit, maybe the boat wouldn’t be damaged so much. That’s why we didn’t call for radio help at first, we thought [o ataque] It will be over soon and we can assess the damage,” Augustin explains to the Daily Mail website.
But this did not happen, as the cetaceans continued to destroy them, cutting off their thighs firmly in the bowl🇧🇷 The result was a huge hole in the hull that filled the boat with water.
The crew sounded a distress call and waited at the top of the ship. A Swedish boat rescued everyone unharmed, until the arrival of the Coast Guard, who took the crew to Viana do Castelo, about 22 kilometers away. Despite being fine, the group watched the yacht completely sink.
This is not an isolated case🇧🇷 Other similar incidents involving orca attacks occurred in the region. In August of this year, orcas sank two boats off the coast of Portugal, as well as other cases off the coast of Spain.
