The former Leicester City player between 2001 and 2006, striker Tommy Wright, who played for the English club in the Premier League, in addition to a frequent presence in the youth teams of the England national team, left the world of football to risk it. A career completely different from the one that took him until he was 37, when he joined the police academy during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Shortly after being suspended and trying to succeed as director of football, having coached Darlington from 2017 to 2019, Stratford Town in 2019 and Corby Town in 2020, the former striker decided he would wear a new kit: those of the UK Police.

However, Tommy Wright did not abandon the sport, although he no longer worked with it professionally. The former athlete wears the captain’s armband for the Great Britain Police national football team. Once he became a police officer, Tommy said he was honored for his work in Leicester: ‘Obviously some people realized I played with Leicester. I keep it a secret, of course, which is really funny.’ He masked Leicester City’s face and told me right away when I read the charges. The suspect was wearing a Nottingham Forest mask covering his face, so he said “I’ll tell him what he’s aiming for against us.” A kind of joke, when done right, can help in tense situations like this. You see the look on their faces when they notice and make a quick joke before Back to topic.”

Tommy Wright also had two experiences as a coach and player at the same time in his career: between 2013 and 2016 in Corby Town and between 2016 and 2017 in Nuunton Town.
