It has been confirmed that nurses across the UK have voted in an unprecedented strike.

A majority of NHS employers voted in favor of industrial action, according to the Royal College of Nursing trade union.

An unprecedented vote for nurses in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland could see the first day of strike action before Christmas.

It is the first time nurses in all four countries have taken industrial action, with other unions Unite, Unison and GMB voting for members on strike.

The referendum was launched on October 6 and was launched after the government offered nurses a premium below inflation. The Royal College of Nursing has called for a pay rise of at least 5% above inflation, which is currently 12%.
