    Online sales grow 28% in Brazil

    Online sales figures in Brazil do not cease to be a positive surprise.

    In 2020, online sales grew 34.76% in Brazil. In 2021, growth was still strong at 28.45%. The forecasts are that in 2022 and in the coming years, the growth will be at 20% per year, and that in 2025 the turnover will reach an impressive 465 billion Rls.

    This is what reveals a study issued by the discount platform CouponValido.com.brwith data from Statista on e-commerce sales in Brazil.

    The 20% annual growth rate is the highest among all countries, and almost double the global average (11.3%).

    The growth of online shopping in Brazil is high, as the penetration rate (the percentage of people who make daily online purchases) remains low. In Brazil, only 49% of people have made online purchases in the last 12 months. For comparison, in the UK (the leading country in this factor), the penetration rate is 84%.

    In terms of online shoppers, in 2021 the number was 114 million. In 2022, the projection was 123 million. And by 2025, the number will reach 138 million – an increase of more than 12%.

    Clothing is the most popular product that Brazilians buy online. In second place come electronics, such as televisions, smartphones, and laptops. Shoes are in third place. Then among the bestsellers are accessories, pharmacy products and food.

    The preferred way for Brazilians to shop online is via smartphone, followed by laptop and computer (PC). Tablet and smart TV fourth and fifth, respectively.

    According to the survey, the three main factors that Brazilians consider the advantages of buying online are: direct home delivery, promotions At lower prices than the actual stores, and a wide range of products offered.

    On the other hand, the three main negative factors are: the difficulty of making the exchange, the delay in the shipping time and the lack of possibility of prior contact with the product.
