The port of Dover in England continues on Saturday with long lines of vehicles to cross the English Channel, so authorities are asking passengers to arrive four hours earlier, Efe reports.

Difficulties in crossing into France have already prompted the British and French authorities to trade accusations, with the British accusing Paris of not preparing while the French blamed “Brexit”.

“Please, there is heavy traffic at border control in the Port of Dover. If you have a reservation for travel today, please arrive with 3-4 hours less to surf security,” he asks, on his Twitter account, shipping company P&O Ferries, which ensures that all Passengers with tickets will board the first ship to leave upon ‘check-in’.

According to Efe, it is estimated that approximately 3,000 trucks are parked on the main road to southeast England, the M20, which gives access to the port of Dover.

The mayor of the Port of Dover, Doug Bannister, admitted to the BBC that the first day of the school holiday in the UK is expected to be “the busiest”.

Bannister accused France on Friday of not deploying enough border police to speed up border controls, saying this had already been done for today, so the same is unlikely to happen again. Friday traffic jams.

However, the official warned that traffic congestion on Friday was still waning and that the “large number” of trucks on the M20 could make the operation difficult.

In the final hours, authorities on both sides of the English Channel traded accusations, with the British Foreign Secretary, Liz Truss, sharply criticizing the delays in Dover and urging the French government to “move” to end the long queues..waiting.

“This terrible situation was completely preventable and unacceptable. We need France to strengthen its border capacity to limit any future disruption to British tourists and make sure that this terrible situation is avoided in the future,” Efe quotes.

On the French side, Calais MP Pierre-Henri Dumont considered these traffic jams to be “the result of Brexit” and that they will happen again in the short and medium term.

Dumont also considered the port of Dover to be too small and lamented that there were so few centers for frontiersmen due to the lack of space.

On the French side, there is no delay in crossing the English Channel.
