LONDON, March 19 (EFE) .- The United Kingdom reported the highest death toll from the epidemic in 2020 at 7.2%, higher than the average number of deaths in the previous five years by the National Statistics Office this Friday (ONS)).

According to the ONS, the UK ranks eighth among European countries, with the highest number of additional deaths as of December 18 last year.

The United Kingdom topped that list in the first waves of the epidemic, with an additional 6.7% of deaths in June 2020, although the outbreak of the virus affected other regions, particularly in Central and Eastern Europe.

The ONS points out that by 2020, the country will have the second highest number of deaths under the age of 65 in Europe, 7.7%, followed by Bulgaria (12.3%), which is “under investigation.” Analyst Annie Campbell.

In 2021, the Office for National Statistics notes that the deaths that occurred when the third wave of the epidemic was recorded in the United Kingdom were not in its data. EFE
