Klopp, who plays in England’s second tier, is fighting to escape relegation

Derby County, the English Premier League equivalent of the English second tier, has launched an extraordinary campaign to favor its lower-income fans. The team is crowdfunding to donate tickets for club matches to fans who cannot afford to pay. In online crowdfunding, Derby County is also soliciting donations for social projects run by the club.

The team highlighted crowd participation in their last home game against Birmingham (a 2-2 draw) as fundamental to the team’s performance: “The fans are determined to do their part to fill the stadium and support those who can’t watch the games normally.”

Indeed, a full stadium could be a positive factor, as Derby County, coached by former striker Wayne Rooney, is second from the bottom of the league standings and will be relegated to the third division if the competition ends today.

The current online crowdfunding aims to raise funds to buy tickets for the match against Peterborough, on the 19th. However, the team stressed that it does not guarantee entry to all candidates.

In the financial crisis, Derby County was once one of the biggest teams in England. The team, based in Derby in northern England, won the Premier League title in 1972 and 1975, as well as the FA Cup in 1946 and the English Super Cup in 1975.
