By eliminating Manchester United at the hands of Atletico Madrid, in the round of 16 of the Champions League, Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo lost his last chance to win the title this season. With the team already eliminated in the FA Cup and 20 points off Manchester City in the Premier League, it is already possible to say that Ronaldo will not celebrate a title, something that has not happened since the 2009/10 season.

At that moment, the Portuguese star was living his first year in the service of Real Madrid and witnessed the Real Madrid team remaining in second place in the League. In addition, the team did not get past the first round of the King’s Cup and was also knocked out in the round of 16 of the Champions League against Lyon. Since then, Cristiano Ronaldo has won at least one collegiate title each season.

After his years at Real Madrid, the Portuguese never went without any achievement and lived the best stage of his career, having celebrated all possible tournaments with the merengue club shirt. In the 2018/19 season, Ronaldo went on to play for Juventus and also lived through a string of accomplishments at the Italian club. Now, in his first return season to Manchester United, the Portuguese has nothing to celebrate again.

During the current season, Cristiano Ronaldo also broke another negative record, when he scored a quick goal. In all, the Portuguese has gone six games without hitting the opponent’s net and no such negative sequence has occurred since the 2008/09 season, precisely when the striker was in the final year of his first spell with Manchester United.

In addition to the failures on the field, Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to English football has been marked by poor performances and strained relations, particularly with coach Ralph Rangnick. The British press even reported that the Portuguese would have been upset by some of the coach’s choices, who replaced him in some matches and in others made him start from the bench.
