On June 3, 2020, Serbian Novak Djokovic signed the purchase of 80% of the Danish biotechnology company QuantBioRes SA, which was founded by the Danish CEO Ivan Lonkarvic, which is currently starting trials for a treatment for Covid.
Lonkarvich gave an interview to Reuters news agency, and said that the company is working on developing a treatment to prevent the SARSCov2 coronavirus, which is responsible for COVID-19, from infecting human cells.
The peptide that functions in the living organism is being developed by “dozens of researchers” from Denmark, Australia and Slovakia. The studies will launch human trials later this year in the UK, according to the chief executive.
Lunkarvich said incumbent President Novak Djokovic is not an “anti-vaccine” and a “great person”. QuantBioRes founder Lonkarvic did not say how much the tennis player contributed to the company, but he clarified that Djokovic owns 40.8% of the company, while his wife Jelena Ristic Djokovic owns 39.2%.
Both Djokovic and Jelena are on the list of company directors in the Companies Registry of Denmark. According to the same record, as of December 31, 2021, QuantBioRes has collected a profit of 1 million DKK, or about R$916968.00.
