A pilot and his daughter disappeared for hours after their single-engine plane crashed in Pennsylvania (USA) on Sunday (14) and were found at the signal of the woman’s iPad.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the plane took off from Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport in Pittston and disappeared from radar “after a quick landing”. The 58-year-old pilot and his 13-year-old daughter were the only passengers on board the single-engine Cessna 150.

Police said that after notification of the plane’s disappearance, searches began coordinated by the US Air Force Rescue Coordination Center.

James Serafin, president of Bear Creek Volunteer Hose Company (the local fire department), told CNN that once the pilot was identified, they called his wife, who was waiting for the family at their final destination, and got a number. cell phone from a man.

“They (rescue team) managed to contact the cell phone,” he added [teste de latĂȘncia de um aparelho] They find out that the daughter has an iPad, and with some iPads, you can ping it. That’s how we got that format, and it’s where we defined it.”

The plane and its two passengers were found in a densely wooded area seven miles southeast of Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport. Police said the father and daughter were in pre-hyperthermia and had minor injuries. The firefighter described the episode as a “miracle”.

“In everything I’ve been through, you don’t really hear about survivors, especially in the area where they fell, it’s full of woods. They had to go through trees and everything. It was definitely a miracle,” Seraphin said. .
