Corinthians had intended to promote Willian’s debut today, against Atlético Guiananzi, at 6:15 pm, in a valid match for Brazil, but after Anfisa’s ban, the club confirmed that the athlete would not be used and that he was not included in the list.

In an official statement, Corinthians says it has “always adhered to health rules”, but protests the “unequal treatment”, without specifically mentioning any other case, and demands “more clarity” in documents and decrees.

It is noteworthy that yesterday Anvisa issued a statement saying that Willian is unable to play and that the athlete has committed to complying with the quarantine because he came from the United Kingdom directly to Brazil.

Andreas Pereira, a Flamengo player, has a similar condition to Willian’s, since he was in the UK and came to Brazil, but he did not complete the quarantine upon his arrival and played for the Rio team. Now, Anvisa suggests that there is a penalty for an athlete for not complying with the law.

It remains to be seen how the entity will react to that of defender David Luiz, who was recently appointed by Flamengo and who was in the UK recently.

    See the full Corinthian memorandum:

Sport Club Corinthians Paulista explains that in accordance with Anvisa Decree 655/21 (which deals with restrictions on entry to Brazil for people coming from the UK), athlete Willian will not go to the stadium for Sunday’s match, in Goiânia, against Atletico Go.

Since the beginning of the epidemic, the club has always adhered to the sanitary rules imposed by most of the different health authorities, even if some are confused. Therefore, it will perform, without objections, the role of publishing the measures of Decree 655/21.

However, Corinthians reserve the right to protest the unequal treatment provided by the body, as the agency itself admitted in the last paragraphs of the statement on athlete Willian, issued on Saturday (11).

The Club hopes that Anvisa and the other public bodies that make up the system will guide travelers, whether athletes or not, with greater clarity, and monitor them in a fair and clear manner, in pursuit of the decree’s goal of preserving life, avoiding unwanted speculation and misinformation.
