Without a ticket, a Liverpool fan drove 11 hours to Paris

Born in Ireland, Jamie Lavery lived in Brazil in his early childhood, and settled in the UK since he was five years old. And from Derby, northern England, he drove a die-hard Liverpool fan to Paris.

The 42-year-old financial businessman brought in his eldest son Theo, 15, in a bid to keep a close eye on the English team as they beat Real Madrid on French soil, then achieve their seventh Champions League title. They traveled together for 11 hours. In “small” details: No tickets in baggage.

“If you hear someone selling, let me know (laughs),” Jimmy joked, who, despite breaching the security barrier for those without tickets, understands the difficulty of getting a seat inside the Stade de France.

With almost the entire family now in Dublin, Ireland, Jimmy resided in Sao Paulo, where he fell in love with cycling. He was in the 90s in a house close to the Morumbi stadium, so he created sympathy for São Paulo.

“I love Sao Paulo, I remember when the team had Kaka. But I’m really from Liverpool. He was remarkable, right? (laughs)”, he explained, always in a good mood.

The Stade de France, the stage of the 2021/22 Champions League edition, will receive on Saturday, at 21:00 (16:00 GMT), about 70 thousand fans – thousands of fans traveled to the French capital without tickets.
