The first installment of the thirteenth salary is always the highest as there is no income tax deduction or the National Institute of Social Security. The calculation takes into account half of the last gross salary received. In other words, the month of November.

Thus, to find out how much they will get, the worker needs to divide the last month’s gross salary by 12. Once you do that, just multiply the value by the number of months worked. Thus, the first installment to be paid from the thirteenth salary will be half the result of the calculation.

The benefit has been paid since 1962 to all workers employed under an official contract. The birthday stipend bonus is known as the thirteenth salary.

The amount is paid in two instalments. The first amount must be paid, by law, between February 1 and November 30. Most companies often leave it for this last month.

Then, between November and December 20 is the deadline for the second batch of the 13th pay. In order for an employee to be entitled to benefit, in addition to an official contract, he must have worked for at least 15 days.

If the money isn’t passed to the worker within the deadline, the first step is to research the company’s human resources to understand the reason for the non-payment. After all, the thirteenth is a benefit guaranteed by law and a fundamental obligation of businesses.

If the company has not made the payment by December 20, the employee is advised to file a complaint with the Ministry of Labor. If this happens, the company can be fined.
