The devastation caused by Hurricane Adalia in the United States of America

Hurricane Adalia hit two US states on Wednesday: Florida and Georgia. There is not yet a complete assessment of the damage caused by the hurricane.

Video footage and photographs from the area show that ocean waters flooded roads, and neighborhoods were submerged by massive floods.

More than 75 people have been rescued from flood waters in St. Petersburg, Florida. The city also reported on social media platform X. A video showed two first responders in a small boat sailing through a flooded neighborhood in heavy rain.

In Valdosta, Georgia, emergency boat crews rescued residents trapped in their homes.

The most serious consequence of the storm is a wind-driven tidal wave that should flood low-lying areas.

Two drivers died on Wednesday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

More than 280,000 Florida homes and businesses lost power, and 160,000 customers were similarly affected in Georgia.
