Britain’s National Health Service, the NHS, will start using a new lens on ‘smartphones’ from July, the service announced on Thursday, which will help detect cases of skin cancer more quickly.

In one NoticeThe NHS explained that tens of thousands of users will have access to the new tool, which works with a 50p lens, can be attached to a device and is capable of taking detailed and detailed photos of symptoms or skin lesions.

This type of equipment has already started to be used in health centers with contracts with the NHS, and many have already been diagnosed and started treatment, thanks to the speed with which it is possible to identify the type of cancer.

The technology ‘teledermatology’ has been developed by health authorities who expect the service to be available to all parts of the UK from July – drastically reducing waiting lists in dermatology.

The NHS is calling the lens a ‘dermoscope’ and will “help dermatologists double the number of patients they see per day”.

More than 600,000 people in the UK were identified as screened for skin cancer last year, and by 2022 more than 56,000 people will be treated for the disease.
