Former US President Donald Trump tested positive for Covid-19, then negative, three days before the debate with Democrat Joe Biden on September 29, 2020, according to a book by his former chief of staff Mark Meadows obtained by The Guardian. Copy and information that the Republican businessman denies.

Mark Meadows argues in the book head boss (The Boss of the Boss), to be published next week, said “nothing can stop Trump” from debating his Democratic opponent in the 2020 presidential election, which handed Biden a victory that his opponent has often questioned.

The last chief of staff of the former president confirmed that, at the time of the positive test, which was conducted on September 26, 2020, Trump displayed signs of fatigue and symptoms of a “mild cold”.

Mark Meadows said he warned Trump about his positive test while on Air Force One on his way to a campaign rally, according to The Guardian.

He says that after the first test, which was done “in the old fashioned way”, a second analysis was carried out with a system considered “more accurate”, “Binax”. This time, the result was negative, which Trump considered “complete permission” to continue his agenda. A week after the event, Trump was in the hospital with the disease.

On October 2, he announced on his Twitter account that he and his wife Melania had tested positive for Covid-19. But the Republican billionaire argued this Wednesday that Meadows’ allegations are false.

“The story that I had Covid before or during the first debate is fake news. In fact, the test showed that I did not have Covid before the debate.”

Mark Meadows, a former Republican congressman, fully supported Trump in his harsh criticism of the election results.

After resisting for weeks, Meadows on Tuesday agreed to testify before the House committee investigating the January 6 invasion of Congress.

The committee wants to know if Trump and those around him, including Meadows, are getting along with the crowd of Republican supporters who stormed the Capitol and temporarily prevented lawmakers from establishing Biden’s victory.

Promoter remained in the background during his time in the White House, but the investigation and his book brought him to light.
