The Secretary of Municipal Education (SMED) has signed a cooperation agreement with the United Kingdom that will benefit schools in Caxias do Sul. From the beginning of the academic year 2023, the training platform for English language teachers will be implemented in five teaching institutes in Caxias.

After trying for about two months, SMED evaluated the site and decided to accept the offer. Its objective is to train teachers and improve the quality of teaching.

The educational institutions selected are Municipal Elementary Schools (EMEFs) Engenheiro Dario Granja Sant’anna, Guerino Zugno, Manoel Pereira dos Santos, Nova Esperança and Padre João Schiavo. They represent the five educational zones of the municipality.

Academic Chair Sandra Negrini explains that there are two moves in the secretariat. First, English medium education should be implemented from the first year of primary school. The second is the implementation of this platform, which will bring lessons and teaching materials in line with the most modern in the English language, both in terms of methodology and content.
