The BaianaSystem stops access to Anhangabaú and takes the audience to catharsis at Virada Cultural

Access to the Vale do Anhangabaú entrance was blocked once the BaianaSystem group appeared on stage, shortly after 8:30pm on Saturday from Virada Cultural in São Paulo.

The lines to the magazine stopped, and the atmosphere became tense. People heard the group playing their songs and immediately wanted to join. Some sang, others danced.

The Centro shows at Virada 2023 were centered in Anhangabaú. The most popular attractions were Saturday night Bahia system that it Gloria Grove. As of the end of these shows the event balance was as follows:

  • The entrance featured an unprecedented security system, with elevated police posts and a sensor-equipped magazine.
  • Gloria Groff played a packed show, but the sound broke and interrupted the presentation twice.
  • BaianaSystem amplified the Bahian guitar and turned the show into a celebration.
  • These two main shows were lively, but without too much confusion.
  • After the end of the Baiana System, most of the public left Anhangabaú en masse.

Russo Basaposo, the leader of the BaianaSystem, asked them to open the samba circle. After that, he went back to talking about Bahian guitar (the group’s project is to make it global) and made a splash with a basic theme. Sassione of the group’s powerful voices, was another moment of much action in the audience.

Baiana is an unpopular phenomenon, but it is capable of captivating the masses. There she was singing with singer Rosso Basaposo. There was a lot of partying among the audience, and a lot of fun. The catharsis common to the group’s shows were less radical, but the audience’s involvement was intense. Decompressthe most famous sound, has become a celebration.

Immediately after the BaianaSystem show, most of the audience began to leave Anhangabaú en masse.

Other popular artists on the theater’s schedule have performances scheduled for Sunday afternoons: Alceu Valença, Iza, and Carlinhos Brown. At the end of the morning, Beto Lee, along with Paola Lima, did a tribute to Rita Lee (see the full program at the end of the script).

On other stages around town, Carlinhos Brown, Rasa Negra, Nassau Zombie, Livinho and more appeared on Saturday. Sunday features Gabi Amarantos, Djunga, Terry, Leo Santana, MC Cavirinha, Emesida, Ze Vaquero, MC Capelinho, Marina Senna, Ivan Lenz and more – see full schedule.

Gloria Grove opened Virada no Anhangabaú with vocal problems, but managed to deliver a lively performance.

“Who put the cultural verada out of its socket? Verada, help me, let me go back!”, said the singer Once he realized that no one else had heard a sound. The breakdown happened on the third song after she sang auction. The interruption lasted a few minutes.

Then the sound was restored, but it stopped again. Technical problems jeopardized the flow of the show, which had started at a high temperature.

Under the supervision of a military police drone, some of the Shock Troop men standing on the track and some of the other PM troopers in the cabins, the Glória Groove, even with initial sound problems, put on a show in peace.

Eventually, presenter Manuel Soares revealed that he was speaking to the Commander-in-Chief of the Prime Minister and that he said that up until that point there was “no record of lovers fighting”. However, Manuel mentioned that people should be careful when handling cell phones.

Gloria manages to gather an intense, participatory audience to watch her show for about an hour and a half, just as she does at private, paid-for festivals, like Lollapalooza. There was everything, their songs, their screens, their male and female dancers.

There is already a new security scheme for this year’s Virada Cultural programme. The people who arrived in Vale do Anhangabaú on Saturday afternoon walked in a zigzag through paths separated by large passages. Upon reaching the entrance, they needed to open bags, show what they were carrying in their pockets, and go through sensors. There has never been a scheme so good.

On the runway at Vale do Anhangabaú, the novelty was five police cabins hoisted at strategic points. The procedure allows the police to perceive what is happening from above. Since the bandits’ strategy is to act by creating riots followed by trawling, the above view can prevent criminal actions.

The third measure, unprecedented at the Anhangaba Arena, is the creation of a centralized security corridor. And it allows for quick movement and police infiltration into the audience, which is not what happened in 2022.
