How Much Vacation Time Do We Really Need, According to Science

Few things are better in life than taking a good vacation and being able to free your head from the stress of work. Whether you’re enjoying some great partying, enjoying a nice day at the beach, or just getting away from society, the goal is to be able to enjoy some free time without worrying about too much.

However, all the vacation time offered to us did not seem to suffice. So how much time do we need away from work to be able to live well? At the end of the day, there are a number of scientific benefits to analyze and take into account if you want to argue for extra time for your boss!

In most parts of Europe and the UK, 25 days of vacation is offered, all of which will be essentially consumed. On the other hand, in the US, employees are entitled to 15 days, but they can only consume an average of only 12 days – figures similar to South Korea, which only takes 8 days.

According to a study published in the Journal of Happiness Studies, the positive effects gained through short vacations are lost almost on the first day after returning to work. In comparison, people who were able to enjoy more than 8 consecutive days of rest had greater productivity, happiness in the workplace, and friendship for an entire two weeks.

Therefore, the best strategy for employees to be able to earn more after the vacation period is to get away from the workplace on 7-8 day trips – not less. To complete the set, the more that individual is able to sleep peacefully while on vacation, the more positive effects will be on their mood and productivity while they are back.

Clearly, vacation is so important and beneficial to workers’ health and performance growth, it’s no wonder that it tends to be a highly respected practice by new-age companies, such as Google and Facebook — not to mention the more relaxed work environment these companies have created. Comp.

In conclusion, it is important to respect the period during which the worker is absent from work in order to remain focused on his role. Otherwise, the discomfort will be a blow to the company’s foot.
