    That year, Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 was chartered to fly an amateur rugby team to a match in Santiago, Chile. But the plane crashed in the Valley of Tears in the Argentine Andes. Of the 45 passengers, 29 survived the collision.

    Survivors would face endless days of cold and took extreme measures to survive. At some point, they had to make a deal to be able to eat the flesh of the dead. After 72 days, two of them were able to reach Chile to seek help. Only 16 people were rescued alive in what became known as the “Miracle of the Andes.”

    The story has already been depicted in several films and documentaries, such as The Mexican Survivors of the Andes (1976), by Rene Cardona, W Snow Association (2007), by Uruguayan Gonzalo Arrejón. But the Netflix film brings new features to the film adaptation: it is authorized by survivors and the family of those who died, in addition to being spoken in Spanish.

    Snow Association Inspired by the book of the same name by journalist Pablo Versi, who also served as producer. According to AFP, survivors of the tragedy praised the sincerity with which Juan Antonio Bayona, the film's director, portrayed the events.

    “In this film, people will understand what we went through,” Daniel Fernandez-Strauch commented. Fernandez-Strauch said: “Even the feeling of coldness returns. It's completely realistic and very well done. The story is very harsh, but very well told.”

    The film was recorded over 141 non-consecutive days in Spain, Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. In September last year, the film was shown privately in Montevideo for survivors and families of the victims. Snow Association It opened in theaters on December 14.
