    Paulo Teixeira recommended accepting the proposal

    The Committee on Constitution, Justice and Citizenship (CCJ) of the House of Representatives approved Bill 8131/17of the Senate, which established the national oral health policy within the scope of the Unified Health System (SUS). The proposal was written by Senator Humberto Costa (PT-PE) and is Appendix to me PL 6836/17deputy Jorge Sola (PT-BA)of identical content.

    Established in 2003, the national oral health policy – the Smiling Brazil Program – sets out a series of measures to facilitate and expand the population’s access to free dental treatment through SUS.

    The main lines of action of the program are the reorganization of primary health care and the expansion and rehabilitation of specialized care, particularly with the establishment of dental specialty centers and regional prosthetic laboratories.

    According to the author, the purpose of the proposal is for the program to become state policy, expressly incorporated into the legislation.
