The ninth edition of the Brazil Forum UK was held at the University of Oxford. The event brings together Brazilians studying in the UK and encourages discussion on topics that seek to make a positive difference in the country.

Barroso was responsible for delivering the opening speech at Saturday's event. In his speech, which lasted 27 minutes, the head of the STF announced that Brazilian democracy was under “serious scrutiny” because of the “rise of the extreme right” and the capitalization of religious sentiments in political debates.

“In defense of democracy due to the rise of the intolerant extreme right in many parts of the world, through the use of hate speech and misinformation, Brazil has experienced a major trial, just as the world has experienced a trial by fire. In many parts of the world, an action strategy is politics by misusing political materials to capture religious sentiment.

Later this week, STF Minister Gilmer Mendes will also attend a congress in Europe. “Gilmarpalooza”, known as the Lisbon Legal Forum, promoted by the STF Dean's Institute of Higher Education in Lisbon, will bring together the President of the Chamber of Deputies Arthur Lira (PP-AL), the representative Orlando Silva. ( PCdoB-SP) and Doutor Luizinho (PP-RJ), Senators Jaques Wagner (PT-BA), Eliziane Gama (PSD-MA) and Ciro Nogueira (PP-PI). The event will also feature the participation of the governors of São Paulo, Tarcio de Freidas (Republicans), and Goias, Ronaldo Cayado (Unio).
