LONDON, July 16, 2021 (AFP) – British residents in France, even if fully vaccinated, will need to be quarantined upon arrival in the United Kingdom, the British government announced Friday (16).

The CEO had already announced that UK residents with a full vaccination schedule should not be quarantined from Monday if they come from countries on the so-called “orange” list, which includes European tourist destinations such as France, Italy or Spain.

The Ministry of Health said in a statement that it later excluded the French country from this rule because of the “continuing presence in France of beta-type cases, which were first identified in South Africa.”

Thus, anyone who has been in France in the 10 days prior to arrival in England, including at home, must be quarantined, and pass covid-19 tests on the second and eighth day after entry.

The UK is one of the countries hardest hit by the coronavirus in Europe, with more than 128,500 deaths. Cases rose in two weeks, topping 50,000 a day on Friday, a number not seen since January.

However, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the lifting of nearly all restrictions – still in place – from Monday.
