Signs of sharp objects on skulls indicated that animals would have been presented in a kind of banquet, but so far experts have not known what is the origin of wild pigs.

In analyzing microscopic growth patterns, as well as chemical signatures (unique elements) on the surface of the nail polish of five of these pigs, scientists have found that they were brought from other places – an important distance from the region. That is, they have been transferred there.

Teeth can reveal this information because, according to the leader of the Petra Vaiglova study, these parts of the body grow like trees. While the vegetation is “growth rings” every year of life, the teeth have visible layers of nail polish and ivory deposits accumulated while developing an animal.

It works as a chronological table and indicates nutritional changes, depending on the presence of certain chemical elements. To investigate the pork teeth, scientists have stained them to count and examine their layers using a microscope.

The compositions of the enamel layers, accumulated at a few periods of a few weeks, varied between the animals that were studied. Using the existing proportions of the isotopes (stable oxygen, steronso and boat), researchers enable the distance from the elavis in which some animals have grown: at least 70 km, at least two days or more of traveling at that time – even to practice agriculture.
