Russian authorities He said that more than 30 Ukrainian drones were shot down in the western region of the country during Saturday night and Sunday morning. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, drones were shot down in Bryansk, Smolensk, Lipetsk and Tula. No injuries or damage were reported.

The Ukrainian attack came just hours after the Russian bombing of Kharkiv, the second largest city in Ukraine, which killed three people and injured more than 50 others. Officials said one of four aerial bombs hit a five-story residential building on Saturday afternoon.

Regional Governor Oleh Sinyhopov said that 41 people were still being treated for injuries. After the bombing that occurred in Kharkiv, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked Ukraine's partner countries to strengthen air defenses. “Ukraine’s modern air defense systems — such as Patriot missiles, the rapid training of our pilots on F-16s, and most importantly, the sufficient range of our weapons — are truly essential,” Zelensky said in a video.

In the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, two people were injured by falling debris when two Russian missiles were shot down over the area on Saturday night, according to Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleschuk. In Donetsk, a region partly occupied by Russia, regional governor Vadim Velashkin said Russian strikes on Saturday killed two people and wounded four.
