French President Emmanuel Macron said on Tuesday (28) that he supports Ukraine being able to use Western weapons against Russian territory to neutralize “the points from which this country launches missiles,” as long as the targets “don’t be civilized.”

Macron said in a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at Meseberg Palace: “We believe that we must allow them to neutralize the military sites from which Ukraine is attacked, but we cannot allow other civilian points or other military targets to be struck.” , on the outskirts of Berlin.

Macron declared, “What has changed is that Russia has adapted its practices a little,” justifying France's joining the United Kingdom in supporting the idea of Ukraine defending itself by attacking targets on Russian territory.

The French President explained that “Ukrainian territory is under attack from bases in Russia.”

The French President asked: “How will we explain to the Ukrainians that they need to protect everything around Kharkiv without the right to attack the place from which the missiles are launched?”

Macron used a map of northeastern Ukraine, which is currently under constant Russian attack across the border, to confirm his words.

“When the targets are identified in Russia from which to attack Ukraine, I think we can allow them to do so if we want to achieve our goal,” the French president said, referring to possible Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory to protect Kharkiv residents. .

Macron also stated that the possibility of allowing Kiev to do so does not mean an escalation of the conflict.

Macron added to justify his position: “Actually, we are not inciting escalation” because “it is Russia that is organizing itself in this way” to attack Ukraine with missiles across the border.

But the French president avoided commenting on “rumors” about the possibility of sending trainers from his country to Ukraine to train soldiers.

“I will not talk about inappropriate contacts,” Macron said, as well as ensuring that he would be able to discuss all aid to Ukraine with the country's president, Volodymyr Zelensky, when he travels to France to mark the anniversary in June. 80th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy.
