Over the past few weeks, Microsoft Gaming has released several games on PlayStation 5 and PS4, consoles it once viewed as competition, but now serves as a way to expand the audience through access to titles from its internal studios.
Originally released in 2018, Sea of Thieves arrived on PS5 six years later and was the best-selling game in April on the PlayStation Store in Europe, and third in the US and Canada. Originally released in 2020, Grounded arrived on PS5 and PS4 four years later and is also among the 10 best-selling games on Sony's digital store.
This interest in Xbox games shown by the PlayStation community makes Microsoft Gaming encouraged by their initiative, but Sarah Bond, Xbox lead, stresses that they will analyze each possibility individually.
During Bloomberg's recent Tech Summit, Bond was asked about this decision and whether PlayStation gamers really want to play Sea of Thieves, prompting Bond to share her excitement about the initial results.
